L I V V is Olivia`s label. Founded in 2010 as M I N D Recording Studio ("mind" quoting her second-favorite Talking Heads-record Fear Of Music), the realities of life and her quarrells qith record companies who cause a serious danger to her music and future as an artist forced her to turn her studio into a label. The new name also defines the change of attitude and function that went along with that decision: L I V V stands for Leaders Of Intellect vs. Verticom. Olivia releases her singles and album through it, manages herself, books shows and does all promo through it. She`s planning to co-operate with license-partners when releasing her future recordings (ergo making sure that L I V V remains the original owner of material rights and royalties, so that they stay in the family and with her kids, who shall hopefully inherit it). She`s also planning to release and especially produce other artists on her label and eventually, in 10-15 years or so, slowly turn it into a music- and film-production-company. A home for creative, hard-working people with big, unusual, complex and sometimes hard to realize ideas for the future of music and cinema that usually are very hard to convince "industry-people" of, but eventually push things forward for this culture. HA!
Yeah, of course. Obviously...(c`mon have you ever heard of such a weird last name? No, it`s not Russian). The girl`s real name is "Olivia Anna Schnitzler". "Livki" is a nickname her dad gave her when she was a kid, obviously its origin is "O-livi-a". She made it her last name as a musician "cause it isn t related to any particular culture or nationality, which is basically what I am and what this stuff is about. And it`s funny, weird-sounding. A sense of humour not everyone understands. Again the story of my life....".
Olivia studied directing at film school, but quit after half a year for Film Studies, English Philology and Comparative Literature at FU Berlin. She finished her BA in 2009. Today, she works as arranger, producer, vocalist, bassist, does African drumming, programmes samples, keys n beats. Apart from that, she directs (e.g. the video to Tennis Rackets which is soon gonna happen) and is planning to make her label L I V V a film production company in the future.
Well, Olivia Anna Livki is a German artist of Polish origins. Mom`s Polish, dad`s German. So far so simple-sounding. She was born in Opole, Poland and raised in Germany near Stuttgart since she was 6. After school she went on to study in Berlin which made her move to the capital (not because she loved it and wanted to be "part of the scene". That certainly wasn`t the reason). Berlin is where she began playing her first shows, where she lives at the moment and where her company L I V V is based.
Olivia's main mother tongues are German and English (though at home they re usually mixed up in weird ways). But her mom made sure, she wouldn t forget how to speak and write Polish (forcing her to read fairytales out loud once a year!), so she can do that. Before studies, she spent half a year at Warsaw Film School and during studies she took a Polish-course to improve her writing skills. Which has greatly improved since she`s been trying to respond to each sweet fan-message and does her best to do her Polish interviews in Polish. ;)
Livki is veeery old and wise
Leaders Of Intellect vs. Verticom. L I represents artists dedicated to "intellectual brain-pop music", who are clearly underrepresented and systematically ignored by mainstream media. It stands up against pop culture`s trend of sexualization and the ideology of dependent artist-marionettes attached to the strings of corporate powers, singing soma-popsongs to an easily manipulated idiot-audience. How? -With the help of independence (building own companies) and absolute creative control. Verticom is of course Dr Evil`s company in Austin Powers-movies. Olivia is working her ass off to become a good, honest, respectful and reliable "role-model" (yep, she isn`t afraid of that responsibility! Somebody`s gotta do it) to other, (younger, femaler) artists and smart school-geeks who identify with similar values and dream of doing the same things. Sigh.-
She has played Berlin, NYC, Poland and Chech Republic. She played the following festivals: - Coke Live Music Festival 2011 - OFF Festival 2011 - Beseda u Bigbitu, Chech Republic 2012 - Soundrive Festival, Gdynia 2012 - Queer Eye Festival, Prague 2012 - Transsmisja, Cracow 2011 On Nov 9th 2011, the day of her album-release, she supported Lenny Kravitz at Torwar, Warsaw.
Olivia is currently managing herself. But she`s urgently looking for a trustworthy, reliable and competent management and booking agency for Germany, Poland, and maybe UK. (The work-load is really too much for her ;))

It was performed by many vocalists, both Blues- and jazz-related. The version I fell in love with is Bessie Smith`s. She`s one of my favorite singers and generally had a great influence on me. Cherishing and reminding of her legacy is the reason I play the song at concerts, usually introducing is as a Bessie Smith-tribute. Because the song has established and is part of a very old, tradition of carrying on and "spreading" the heritage of music by re-playing and re-interpreting the stories and themes in one`s own way, many versions of the lyrics have come to be. Bessie`s is (mostly, haha, even the singers themselves never were uptight about it): Re-interpreting such material has really always been all about personal, individual relationship to the story (which is what the Blues is very much about. ItÂ´s great, simple and very "down to earth" storytelling. I love St Louis Blues, cause you can tell the sarcasm, irony, humour, anger, depression, frustration in the lyrics. It`s simply very well written story you can play around with fabulously moving in all directions musically-that??Â´s what the Blues is,lol), but also to the song, the recording, the former interpreters. It`s very much a conversation with the song, it`s history and the artists who preceded you. So for me, being a white European girl, it`s about getting away from the Blues and Bessie, avoiding imitation and phrenology, yet expressing respect. So I go back to her version of the lyric, her interpreation, yet also straight back to the very core of the song as Handy made it. It`s become a very straight, Punk-like almost expression of anger, frustration, helplessness, turning in its own directions. That`s the only thing I can recommend you. You need to find your own relation and solution to the very basic core of the song. Nevermind the instrument. Just listen to Bessie`s amazing recording and play around with the basic bar-structure and the lyrics (check out the movie too, it`s great, look it up on youtube)
Yes, "Personal Needs" will be released in 2012. We aren`t sure yet whether it will become the B-side to a single (like Song For The TV) or part of the next regulary album.
POL Obydwie piosenki istnieja dotad tylko jako demowki i nigdy nie zostaly oficjalnie wydane. Znajda sie jednak na drugim albumie planowanym na 2013, prawdopodobnie w aranzu bardzo oszczednym, zblizonym silnie do VoiceÂ´nÂ´Bass-owego demo. ENG Both songs so far exist as demo-versions only and havenÂ´t been officially released yet. They will be released on my 2nd album and EMI-release (2013). The arrangement of the album-version will probably remain very minimal and quite close to the VoiceÂ´nÂ´Bass-demo.

Iluż to już polskich artystów deklarowało, że ich płyty przeznaczone są dla słuchaczy otwartych na eksperymentalne, nowatorskie brzmienia. Większość tych wydawnictw rozbijała się potem z hukiem o bruk rzeczywistości, okazując się niczym nie wyróżniającą się, prymitywną papką przemielonych, bardzo oklepanych pomysłów.
Po bardzo udanym występie Olivii Anny Livki w popularnym programie telewizyjnym "Tylko muzyka. Must be the music" pojawiła się nadzieja na odświeżenie polskiej sceny alternatywnej. Na czczym gadaniu tym razem się nie skończyło - płyta "The Name of This Girl Is" ma duże szanse, by zmienić sposób postrzegania muzyki nad Wisłą.
Olivia Anna Livki urodziła się w Opolu jednak większość swojego życia spędziła w Niemczech. Ponownie znalazła się w Polsce dość niedawno, o czym mogli się przekonać widzowie pierwszej edycji popularnego programu muzycznego. Olivia programu co prawda nie wygrała, ale dzisiaj śmiało można zaliczać ją do grona zwycięzców. Założeniem tego typu show jest wszak wyłapanie z polskiego rynku muzycznego najlepiej rokujących wykonawców i zapewnienie im tych jakże ważnych pięciu minut obecności w telewizji. Następny krok należy już do artysty. Debiutancki album Olivii stanowi dowód, że udzielony jej kredyt zaufania został spłacony z nawiązką.
"The Name of This Girl Is" jest albumem koncepcyjnym, zawartym w dziewięciu utworach. Każdy z nich idealnie jest wkomponowany w całość. Nie bez znaczenia też jest kolejność utworów, które na zmianę prezentują raz psychodeliczne innym razem bardziej łagodne oblicze Olivii. Wielkim finałem tych przemian osobowości jest "Tennis Rackets", a następujący po nim "Sunrise In The Eyes Of Our Maker" stanowi delikatny epilog albumu.
Debiutancki krążek Olivii Anny Livki zaskakuje na każdym kroku. Począwszy od znakomitego głosu artystki, kończąc na genialnej produkcji i brzmieniu zmiksowanego materiału (wielkie brawa dla Patricka Dilletta). To jedna z najlepszych brzmieniowo polskich płyt, które słyszałem w ostatnich latach! Wszystko tu zachwyca; świetnie ponakładane wokale, monumentalnie brzmiące bębny, rewelacyjnie zaaranżowane dźwięki basu, perkusji i skrzypiec wkomponowane w cudowne i urzekające kompozycje. Nie wiem do końca w jakim gatunku to się mieści. I z wielką satysfakcją mogę powiedzieć - guzik mnie to obchodzi.
